Some of us love finding treasures at garage sales. I am always amazed at some of the things you can scoop at a garage sale! Some people sell because they no longer need the item and they sincerely believe that someone else could use it. In the case of moving sales, people take the opportunity to clean up before packing up and moving.
A friend told me she enjoys garage sales as a summer activity. She collects things throughout the fall and winter and sell them during the summer. For her this is a time to chat and socialize with her neighbours, drinking lemonade and watching cars drive by. She loves it. Another friend said that while she loves garage sales, her husband does not like it at all. He frowns at the thought of taking coins for things they should be donating. He also does not like seeing things stacked up on the driveway and on the lawn. Twice now, he has bought almost all her garage sale stuff and donated them to Value Village! She now thinks this is a great “business” opportunity for her because there is a guaranteed buyer! Hmmmm…
